Archive material and source history
Bedhead formed in Richmond, Virginia in the early 1990s around Matt Kadane, Bubba Kadane, and Trish Keenan. Their first album, 'What Fun Life Was,' came out in 1994 with a hazy, reverb-heavy sound that drew comparisons to shoegaze and dream pop acts like My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins.
They followed that with 'Beheaded' in 1996 and 'Transaction de Novo' in 1998, records that gradually incorporated more folk and country elements while keeping the band's introspective mood. Songs like 'Daydreams' and 'What's Missing' from that period show their quiet, atmospheric approach.
Bubba Kadane left the band in 1998, and they released one more album, 'The Wayside,' in 2001. Their catalog is mostly these four full-length records, a handful of singles, and a few compilation tracks.
