Bedim

Bedim formed in Turkey in 2002, with Emre Erken on vocals and guitar, Mert Köybaşı on guitar, Levent Akın on bass, and Burak Gürpınar on drums. Their music pulls from hard rock and heavy metal, but also incorporates traditional Turkish folk elements. The band's lyrics often draw from Anatolian poets like Nazım Hikmet and Ahmed Arif, grounding their work in specific cultural and political textures rather than abstract rebellion.

Their song 'Slave Traitor' became particularly well-known, and other tracks like 'Through Black Eyes' and 'Demonic Communion Forlorn' show their range across their five albums, from the self-titled debut in 2002 to 'Faili Meçhul' in 2013. Over time, their sound incorporated more progressive rock and psychedelic touches, but kept a focus on melodic guitar work and direct, lyric-driven arrangements.

This wasn't presented as a heroic arc in their music so much as a consistent condition for a band working in that space. They built a following by sticking to their themes without softening the edges for broader acceptance.
