Bedouine is the project of singer-songwriter Azniv Korkejian, who was born in Aleppo, Syria and raised in the United States. She studied at Berklee College of Music before moving to Los Angeles. Her music draws from Armenian folk songs, classic rock, and soul, creating a sound that feels both familiar and quietly distinct.
Her self-titled debut album arrived in 2017, featuring contributions from Aaron Dessner of The National. It established her style with intimate, atmospheric tracks built around her clear vocals and delicate arrangements. Songs like 'Nice And Quiet' and 'One Of These Days' captured a particular kind of hushed, reflective mood.
In 2019, she released 'Bird Songs of a Killjoy,' which took a more expansive approach than her first record. The album explored personal and political themes with a broader sonic palette, moving beyond the straightforward folk of her debut. Tracks like 'Sunshine Sometimes' and 'Summer Cold' showed this shift toward a slightly more experimental sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
