Bedwetters formed in 2007 with Rachel Goswell on vocals, Adam Schlesinger on guitar, Tom Petersson on bass, and Pat Carney on drums. They came out of Brooklyn with an indie rock sound that felt raw and introspective, drawing from 90s alternative and indie folk.
In 2009, their single 'A Dramatic Letter to Conscience' broke through with its haunting melody and cathartic chorus. The song became something of an anthem, and it helped push the band into a wider spotlight. They followed it with albums like 'The Dawn of Bedwetters' that same year, 'The Great Depression of Bedwetters' in 2012, 'The War of Bedwetters' in 2015, and 'The Final Days of Bedwetters' in 2018.
Goswell's lyrics often dealt frankly with mental health and addiction, which drew some criticism. The band also faced legal issues over copyright claims. Their catalog includes songs like 'Days Of Our Lives' and 'Hayley', and they kept a core lineup through their run.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
