They started playing in favelas and local parties, mixing samba, funk, and hip-hop. Their debut album "Emergência Cultural" came out in 1992.
Their songs often dealt with poverty, inequality, racism, and police violence. Tracks like "Alvorada" carried that raw, socially conscious energy.
They released several albums after their debut, including "Esquadrão da Morte" in 1993, "Beijo de Rua" in 1996, "A Grande Família" in 1999, and "No Morro da Mangueira" in 2001. Marcelo "DJ Tico" Tico-Tico joined as their DJ.
