Bel's Boys formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1970s with Billy Falcon on lead vocals and guitar, Bobby Latham on bass, and Billy Sherwood on drums. Their first album came out in 1981, but it was their second record two years later that really put them on the map. That album was called 'Calendar Girl,' and its title track became a genuine hit, reaching the Top 10 in both the US and the UK.
Beyond 'Calendar Girl,' the band had other songs like 'Hold Me Close,' 'I Think We're Alone Now,' and 'Reaching Out' that filled out their pop-rock sound. They released two more studio albums, 'Mirror Mirror' in 1986 and a compilation in 1988, before calling it quits in 1991. They did get back together for some shows in the 2000s, but for most listeners, their story is anchored by that one bright, catchy single from 1983.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
