The Bendik Singers formed in Oslo in 2000, originally as a trio with Bendik Brænne, Øystein Wiik, and Håvard Gryting. Their debut album 'It's Just a Game' came out in 2004, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song. They started with a mix of pop and folk sounds that drew from Norwegian traditions.
After their debut, they released several more albums including 'Surfin' Safari' in 2006 and 'Lucky People' in 2008. The lineup changed around that time too, with Gryting leaving in 2006 and Mathias Telle joining. Their later work included albums like 'Alt For Norge' in 2010 and 'No.5' in 2013.
The band continued working primarily as Brænne and Wiik after the lineup changes, maintaining their presence in Norwegian music through the early 2010s.
