Benjamin Francis Leftwich is a singer-songwriter from York, England. He started playing at local open mics as a teenager, drawing from folk and acoustic influences like Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. His first EP, 'A Thousand Times,' came out in 2009, followed by his debut album 'Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm' in 2011.
In 2013, he was diagnosed with a rare jaw condition that required surgery and rehabilitation, which affected his ability to sing. Songs like 'Atlas Hands' and 'Shine' show his style of fingerpicked guitar and quiet, personal lyrics.
He's been nominated for a BRIT Award and a Mercury Prize, and his music has appeared in some films and television shows. He writes and records steadily, without much fuss or dramatic career turns.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
