Bensin formed in Stockholm in 1994 with Max Peez on vocals, Christian Fast on guitar, Stefan Gillberg on bass, and Andreas Mattsson on drums. Their debut album 'Welcome to My World' came out that same year and included the song 'Jennifer,' which became their most recognizable track. They also released 'Scandalous' and 'The Medicine' around that time.
'Jennifer' had a straightforward pop appeal that worked well on Swedish radio and in clubs. The band toured Europe for a while after that first album, playing to decent crowds. In 1996, Peez had some legal trouble related to drugs, which slowed things down for a bit.
They put out a few more records like 'Dance with Me' in 1995 and some compilations later on. 'Jennifer' is the song people still remember, the one that stuck around from that mid-90s Swedish pop moment.
