Archive material and source history
Bernd Wübbecke is a German singer from Hamburg, born in 1953. He formed Bernd Wübbecke und Band in 1979, and the following year he released his version of the folk song "Funkerlied." The song was originally written by Austrian composer Karl Wendl.
Wübbecke's recording of "Funkerlied" became well-known in Germany. Some listeners felt the song honored radio operators, while others thought it might glorify war. He kept performing it anyway.
He put out an album called "Funkerlieder" in 1980. Beyond that, there isn't much concrete detail about his later work or how long the band stayed together.
