Best Coast

Best Coast started in Los Angeles in 2009, with Bethany Cosentino on vocals and guitar and Bobb Bruno on bass and keyboards. Their early sound pulled from punk and surf rock, often recorded with a lo-fi feel. The debut EP 'For the First Time' came out in 2010, followed by the album 'Crazy for You' the next year, which landed in the top 50 on the Billboard 200.

Songs like 'Bratty B' and 'About a Girl' have straightforward, melodic hooks that stick with you. Cosentino's lyrics often touch on personal themes, which connected with a lot of listeners, though sometimes it drew questions about how raw the writing should be.
