Beth Clarisse is a Brazilian band formed by siblings Ana Paula, João Paulo, and Rafael Marques along with their childhood friend Éverton. They started playing together in Minas Gerais, performing at local festivals and busking on streets before catching the attention of producer André Midani. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2007, followed by records like "Interior" in 2009 and "Nordeste" in 2012.
Their song "Quero Voltar Para O Interior" became something of an anthem for listeners drawn to rural themes. Other tracks like "A Um Passo da Destruição" and "Behind The Masks" show their range within Brazilian folk traditions. In 2013, they faced plagiarism accusations regarding a song on "Nordeste," which they defended as an original composition rooted in their musical heritage.
The band's lineup features Ana Paula on lead vocals and percussion, João Paulo on vocals and guitar, Rafael on vocals and bass, and Éverton on vocals and accordion. They've kept recording and touring, with later albums including "Baú" in 2015.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
