Archive material and source history
Beto Verli was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1963 and started playing guitar when he was five. He developed his sound playing in local bars and clubs, drawing from rock, folk, and samba. In 1987, he released the album 'Geração Perdida,' whose title track became something of an anthem for young people at the time.
That song, along with others like 'Me Prostro Diante de Ti' and 'Quero Desfrutar,' connected with listeners through straightforward lyrics and a direct vocal style. His music from that period often reflected the social climate of the 1980s in Brazil.
He went on to record other albums, including 'O Vira-Lata' in 1990 and 'Acústico MTV' in 1995. Some critics found his perspective overly bleak, but his songs continued to find an audience. Later releases included 'A Queda do Império do Groover' in 2000 and 'Um Beijo Bom' in 2010.
