Bettina Wegner

Bettina Wegner was born in East Germany in 1947 and moved to West Germany in 1968, where she began working as a solo singer-songwriter. Her 1974 single 'Die Mahnung an der Wand (Universal Soldier)' became a hit, an anti-war song that brought her wider attention. She recorded other songs like 'Wenn meine Lieder nicht mehr stimmen' and 'Alles was ich wünsche' during the 1970s.

Her music often dealt with social and political themes, which sometimes led to restrictions on where she could perform. She released several albums in that decade, including 'Bettina Wegner' in 1973 and 'Die Rose im Schnee' in 1977. She worked with musicians like guitarist Rainer Pietsch and bassist Eckart Heider.

Wegner also acted in addition to her music career. Her songs have been translated into other languages and covered by other artists over time.
