Biancucci

Biancucci formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s, with Nicolás "Niko" Penso, Matías "Mati" Méndez, and Germán "Geru" Álvarez at the core. They were drawn to mixing Latin rhythms with electronic textures, taking cues from acts like Gotan Project and Bajofondo.

Their debut album arrived in 2002, and the track "Combo Pesado" broke through. Its pulsing beat and catchy melody found a wide audience, turning up on dance floors and radio stations far beyond Argentina. That song opened doors for international touring, sharing stages with artists such as Calle 13 and Goran Bregovic.

Later work included the song "Lapida." The group faced some challenges along the way, including an incident involving guitarist Germán Álvarez in 2010.
