Big Syke was a rapper from South Central Los Angeles whose real name was Tyruss Himes. He was part of the Westside Connection, a group that included Mack 10 and WC, and his voice on 'Ain't No Love' became one of his most recognizable contributions to West Coast hip-hop.
In 1996, he released his solo album 'Be About It,' which featured appearances from Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg. Other songs like 'Be Yo Self' and 'Enjoy N Life' showed his range beyond the harder-edged group material.
He died in 2000 after being shot. The circumstances around his death were reported as part of the violence that affected many artists from that scene.
