Bilderbuch formed in Austria in 2005. The band includes Maurice Ernst on vocals and guitar, Peter Brugger on drums, Michael Krammer on bass, and Johannes "Johnny" Lux on guitar. They've put out six studio albums, starting with "Nelken" in 2010 and most recently "Gelb ist das Feld" in 2022.
Their music doesn't fit neatly into one category, pulling from indie rock, hip-hop, and electronica. The single "Spliff" drew attention for its lyrics, which some critics read as promoting drug use. Another track, "Bungalow," is among their better-known songs.
They've kept at it without much compromise to their approach, even when their outspoken style rubbed some listeners the wrong way. The albums "Magic Life" and "Mea Culpa" came out in 2015 and 2019, respectively.
