Billy SP came out of São Paulo in the early 2000s, led by singer and songwriter Renato West. Their debut album 'São Paulo' arrived in 2005. The band's lineup has included guitarist André Martins, bassist Pedro 'Pex' Furtado, and drummer Leo Lúcio.
Their 2006 track 'Sextou' became a hit, though its sexually suggestive lyrics drew criticism from some conservative groups. The song is one of their best-known, alongside 'Falta' and 'Fé nas Malucas'.
They've put out eight studio albums. The 2018 release 'Mais Um Pra Coleção' did well on Brazilian charts. They've worked with other Brazilian artists like Rita Lee and Xuxa.
