Bird Courage formed in the early 2000s with Iris Everheart on vocals and guitar, Ethan Blackwood on lead guitar, Liam O'Connor on bass, and Anya Volkov on drums. Their 2007 album 'A Promising Flee' included the title track that became one of their most recognized songs, along with 'Blind In Both Eyes' and 'Home'.
In 2009, Everheart was arrested for drug possession, which led to a brief break in the band's activity. They released 'The Edge of the Abyss' in 2011 and 'Echoes of the Past' in 2015. Their catalog also includes songs like 'Mayshower', 'The Woodsman's Song', and 'Wind And Oak'.
Some of their lyrics drew criticism, particularly around the song 'Crimson Tide', though that track doesn't appear among their most frequently listed work. Their earlier album 'Ashes to Embers' came out in 2004.
