Birimbao formed in Santiago, Chile in the early 2010s. The group includes Vicente "Vicho" Fuentes on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Araya on bass, Juan Pablo "JP" Espinoza on drums, and Ignacio "Nacho" Larraín on keyboards.
Their debut album came out in 2014, sharing its name with the song "Nostalgia Decembrina." That track became their most recognizable piece. Two years later they released Amanecer en Lota, which took a more experimental turn.
They've worked within traditional Latin American music while incorporating other styles. Like many bands starting out, they've dealt with the usual practical challenges of funding and finding places to play.
