Blå Brigader formed in Gothenburg during the mid-1960s with Göran Fristorp on vocals and guitar, Lars Göransson on guitar, Jan Johansson on bass, and Bengt Eklund on drums. They came out of the city's folk scene and wrote songs about working-class life and social issues.
Their song "6-67" came out in 1969 and became widely known in Sweden. The track's direct lyrics and simple, forceful delivery made it an anthem for labor and protest movements at the time.
Blå Brigader's music mixed folk with rock and sometimes jazz, but it was always built around straightforward, declarative singing and acoustic instruments. They released a self-titled album in 1969 and followed it with En Arbetsdag in 1970.
