Black Atlass is the project of Toronto musician Alex Fleming, who started releasing music around 2012. He launched his own independent label, Mind of a Genius, in 2015, which gave him more control over his work. Songs like 'Pain & Pleasure' and 'Lie To Me' have a moody, atmospheric quality that blends R&B with electronic textures.
His early material included the mixtape '00000°' in 2012 and the 'Young Blood' collection the following year. Later releases like the 2018 album 'Haunted Paradise' and the 2020 EP 'Dream Awake' continued in that vein, with tracks such as 'Return To Love' and 'Show Me' built around hazy production and Fleming's vocals.
In 2018, there was some public disagreement over the rights to a song called 'Sacrifice,' which involved Fleming and former collaborators. The project has kept a fairly low profile since, putting out music here and there without much fanfare.
