Black Jacket

Black Jacket formed in São Paulo, Brazil, with Marcio Bruxel on vocals, Rick Ferreira on bass, Alexandre Fontanari on drums, and Marcio Lenzi on guitar. They put out their first album in 2005, a self-titled record that mixed rock and samba. Their second album two years later had the track 'Essa Garota É Demais,' which became a hit and pushed them into wider recognition.

Their sound shifted a bit over the next few albums, picking up some funk and electronic touches by 2010's 'Universo Paralelo.' They kept recording through at least 2015, when their fourth album came out. Other songs like 'Marlboro' and 'Vício' also became part of their set.

Early on, they dealt with the usual financial struggles of a new band trying to get noticed. There was also some talk about the lyrics to 'Essa Garota É Demais,' with a few critics calling the song's perspective questionable, though the band defended it as just reflecting certain relationship dynamics.
