Black Kids formed as a five-piece indie rock band in Jacksonville, Florida in 2006. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2008 and included the song 'I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You,' which became a breakout hit for them. That album reached the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart.
Guitarist Dave Matthews left the band in 2009, and Jonathan Thomas joined to replace him. They released two more studio albums after their debut: 'Partie Traumatic' in 2010 and 'Rookie' in 2017. Other songs in their catalog include 'Hurricane Jane' and 'Listen To Your Body Tonight.'
