Black Sheep was a hip-hop duo from Los Angeles made up of Dres and Mista Lawnge. They put out their first album, 'A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing,' in 1991. The single 'The Choice Is Yours' got some attention, and they had other tracks like 'Pass The 40' and 'Flavor Of The Month' on that record.
Their sound didn't quite fit with what was popular in hip-hop at the time. Dres handled most of the rapping, with Mista Lawnge working on the production side. The lyrics on songs like 'Similak Child' touched on social issues, which wasn't uncommon for that era but gave their music a particular edge.
After that initial album, they kept working but never quite reached the same level of recognition. The 'revisited' version of 'The Choice Is Yours' came later, suggesting the original had some staying power with listeners who remembered it from the early '90s.
