Black Twist formed in Brazil in 2001 with Bruno Granja on vocals and guitar, Rafael Munhoz on bass, and Rodrigo Oliveira on drums. Their debut album 'Além do Horizonte' came out in 2004, and its lead single 'Adeus' became a hit in Brazil. The band's sound mixed rock and pop with Brazilian rhythms, and songs like 'Eu só penso em você' and 'O Melhor do Amor' kept that approach going.
Rafael Munhoz left the band in 2005, and Lucas Silveira joined on bass the following year. They put out more albums, including 'Lágrimas Negras' in 2008 and 'Fênix' in 2011. Lucas Lima came in on keyboards and vocals around 2008, and the lineup stayed that way through 2014. Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which drew some attention at the time.
They worked with Brazilian musicians like Caetano Veloso and Marisa Monte. Tracks such as 'Isso Não É o Fim' and 'Preciso de espaço' show the kind of material they were making in those years.
