Black Unicorn

Black Unicorn formed in the early 2000s with Eloise Von Doom on vocals and keyboards, Jeremy Midnight on guitar, Vincent Shadow on bass, and Damien Nightfall on drums. Their debut album 'Whispers from the Abyss' came out in 2004, followed by 'Blue Lips Under Green Grass' in 2007, which included the song of the same name. They released three more albums: 'Ashes of Elysium' in 2010, 'The Shadow of the Unicorn' in 2014, and a compilation called 'Echoes in the Darkness' in 2018.

Their music tends toward atmospheric rock with what some listeners find unsettling themes. Songs like 'Blue Lips Under Green Grass' and 'Radio Dial' show their preference for moody textures and lyrics that touch on darker subjects. The band's sound relies on Von Doom's distinctive vocals and Midnight's layered guitar work over Shadow's basslines and Nightfall's drumming.

While their material has drawn criticism at times for being too dark or for using certain imagery, it has also found a dedicated audience. They've maintained a consistent presence in alternative rock without much mainstream attention, putting out albums every few years and keeping to their particular aesthetic.
