They released albums like "Slippery When Wet" in 1987, "Mystery" in 1989, and "Life in a Box" in 1992. Their sound mixed pop melodies with rock arrangements, built around Cato's vocals and the band's harmonies. As musical trends shifted toward grunge in the 1990s, Black Velvet's popularity faded, and they disbanded around 1997.
