Blackaut formed in 2004 in Oeiras, Portugal, with Zé Manel on vocals and guitar, João Pedro Leitão on bass, Miguel Ferreira on drums, and Hélder Rodrigues on keyboards. Their first album, "Dentro de Mim," came out in 2008, mixing rock and pop with some Portuguese Fado influence.
In 2010, their second album "Olhos nos Olhos" brought them wider attention, especially with the single "Me Apaixonei por Uma Rapariga." That song, along with others like "Dezoito" and "Sempre tentei," became familiar on Portuguese radio.
They kept releasing albums through the 2010s, including "Noites de Amor," "Mundo Paralelo," and "Tempo," with "Sete Vidas" arriving in 2020. The band faced some accusations of plagiarism in 2013, but kept working.
