BlackBelt formed in Los Angeles in 2013 with Daniel Knowles on vocals, Alex Hooi on guitar, Leo Garcia on bass, and Max Ferraguto on drums. Their debut album 'All Blue Everything' came out in 2016, anchored by the title track that became their most recognizable song. The band's lineup shifted in 2018 when Hooi and Ferraguto left, replaced by guitarist Justin Graham and drummer Joey DiMarco.
They followed up with a second album called 'The Other Side' in 2021. While their earlier work had a certain atmospheric quality, this later material took a more experimental turn that divided some listeners. The band's catalog includes songs like 'Amnésia' and 'Smoking Paper' alongside 'All Blue Everything'.
