Blancmange

Blancmange formed in 1980 as a duo with Neil Arthur on vocals and synthesizer and Stephen Luscombe on keyboards. They came out of the early 1980s synth-pop scene, releasing their first single 'God's Kitchen' in 1981. That track's atmospheric sound and Arthur's voice got them some early attention.

Their debut album 'Happy Families' arrived in 1982 and included 'Lose Your Love,' which became a hit. The song had a catchy melody and made inventive use of synthesizers. Other tracks from that period like 'Living On The Ceiling' and 'Waves' showed their approach to electronic pop.

They kept working with electronic instruments and techniques, creating a sound that felt distinct from other groups at the time. Their lyrics often touched on love and loss. After some years of activity, the duo eventually stopped working together, though Arthur later revived the name for solo work under the Blancmange banner.
