Blind Before Dawn started in the early 2000s when Rhys Fulber and Mark Hockings began working together. They put out their first EP, 'The Immaculate Conception,' in 2003. The music had a particular feel to it, mixing ambient textures with industrial electronics, though it didn't find a huge audience right away.
Things picked up for them in 2005 with the album 'Moist Futurist.' The title track became a notable song in electro-industrial circles. They kept releasing albums fairly regularly after that, like 'A Force of Five' in 2007 and 'Death is a Mannequin' in 2009. Other songs from that period include 'Samui' and 'Strangers.'
There was some attention around 2009 when the video for 'Death is a Mannequin' drew criticism from animal rights groups over its imagery. The band said it was meant as a statement, but it caused a stir. They continued putting out albums through the 2010s, including 'Systema Naturae' in 2017.
