Blind Boy Fuller

Blind Boy Fuller was born Fulton Allen in Wadesboro, North Carolina in 1908. He lost his sight to an infection at age nine and later taught himself guitar and harmonica, developing a style rooted in the Piedmont blues tradition of the Carolinas.

In 1935, music collector John A. Lomax recorded several of his songs for the Library of Congress. These led to a contract with the American Record Corporation, where Fuller released his debut single 'Big House Bound.' He recorded over 100 songs in his brief career, including 'Truckin' My Blues Away' and 'Careless Love.'

Fuller performed primarily as a solo artist, playing on street corners and at local gatherings before his recordings gained wider attention. His songs have been covered by artists like Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.
