Blitzkrieg formed in the 1980s British heavy metal scene, taking their name from the wartime tactic. Their early years saw lineup changes and financial difficulties, but they kept playing. Their lyrics sometimes touched on military themes, which drew mixed reactions at the time.

Brian Ross handled vocals, Ian Jones played guitar, Dick Van Der Kuyp was on bass, and Malcolm Dickinson drummed. They released their debut album 'A Time to Strike' in 1985, followed by 'Unholy Trinity' in 1987 and 'The Damned' in 1988. After a break, they returned with 'Sins of the Father' in 2006.

Songs like 'Blitzkrieg,' 'Buried Alive,' and 'Return To The Village' show their straightforward heavy metal approach. The band's sound was built on Ross's vocals and Jones's guitar work, with a rhythm section that kept things driving.
