Blood Has Been Shed formed in New Jersey around 2001 with Howard Jones on guitar and vocals and Justin Foley on drums. They later added bassist Pat Lach and guitarist Jim Carroll. Their debut album 'Novella of Uriel' came out in 2003, followed by 'Analemma' in 2005 and 'Internal Furnace' in 2008.
Songs like '...And Her Name Was Entragian' and 'Age Of Apocalypse' show their mix of heavy riffs and melodic elements. The band's 2006 album 'Collectible Humor' drew some criticism for its artwork, which got pulled from some stores.
Lineup changes happened over time, with Foley and Lach leaving and being replaced by drummer Chris Pierce and bassist Matt Traynor. The group has had periods of inactivity between releases, but Jones and Carroll have remained consistent members.
