Bloodsimple formed in Denver in 1989 with Reid Genauer on vocals, Paul Barker on guitar, Neil Keener on bass, and Mike Fellows on drums. Their debut album 'Red Harvest' came out in 1991 and included 'Dead Man Walking,' which became one of their better-known songs.
They put out a few more records in the mid-90s like 'Burning Bridges' and 'Cruel Wind.' The lineup shifted some over those years, with Fellows leaving in 1993 and Keener departing in 1997. Genauer and Barker kept writing through those changes.
Their songs often had a dark, introspective feel that some listeners connected with. Beyond 'Dead Man Walking,' tracks like 'Blood In Blood Out' and 'Cruel World' showed that consistent mood in their work.
