Blue Heart

Blue Heart formed in Rio de Janeiro around the mid-1980s when vocalist and guitarist Paulinho Moska met drummer Helinho Brandão while busking. They later added bassist Lula Galvão to make a trio. Their early years were lean, playing small venues with limited equipment.

In 1988 they put out their first album, which included the song "Coração Azul." That track became widely known, though it also drew accusations that the melody was borrowed from another work. Some listeners questioned how much their blues approach owed to American sources.

Blue Heart kept recording through the 1990s, often writing about love, loss, and social issues. Their lyrics sometimes took political stands that stirred discussion alongside the music.
