Blue Horizon formed in the early 1970s with John Grady on vocals, David "Spec" Steele on guitar, Tommy Holland on bass, and Steve "Doc" Campbell on drums. They spent years playing shows around the South, working with country, rock, and soul influences before getting much attention from labels.
Things changed in 1978 when their debut album "The Way Home" came out. The single "Back to Memphis" caught on and gave the band its first real break. That song, along with others like "Blanket Song" and "Farewell," became what people knew them for.
They kept recording through the 1980s and 1990s, putting out albums like "Heart of the South" in 1984 and "Love Don't Come Easy" in 1989. Grady's voice remained central to their sound, which stayed rooted in those Southern styles they started with.
