Bobby Marchan was born in Milwaukee in 1939. He started out singing in local gospel circles before moving into rhythm and blues.
His 1960 single "There's Something On Your Mind" became his signature track, a straightforward R&B number that caught some attention for its direct lyrics about relationship troubles. He recorded several albums in the early 1960s, including a self-titled release in 1961 and "Soulful Bobby Marchan" in 1966.
Marchan worked with guitarist Buddy Guy and songwriter Willie Dixon on some of his material. He died in 1999 after a long illness.
