Bobby Vinton

Bobby Vinton was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania in 1935. He signed with Epic Records in 1962 and released his debut album that same year. His 1964 single 'Mr. Lonely' spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and became his most recognizable song.

Vinton had several other hits during the 1960s, including 'Blue Velvet' and 'Roses Are Red.' His music leaned toward romantic ballads delivered with a smooth vocal style. While some critics found his work overly sentimental as musical tastes shifted later in the decade, his recordings maintained a consistent presence on the charts.

Beyond 'Mr. Lonely,' his catalog includes songs like 'Sealed With A Kiss' and a version of 'I'll Be There For You' that became familiar to television audiences.
