Bonsalvage formed in Porto, Portugal in 2001 around singer-songwriter Vasco Magalhães and guitarist Ivo Sousa. They were joined by bassist João Salcedas and drummer Luís Rita to complete the original lineup.
Their 2006 debut album "Bonsalvage" included the single "Aquela," which became a radio staple in Portugal. The band has released several albums since then, including "O Futuro" in 2009, "O Amor é Isto" in 2012, "Alegoria" in 2015, and "Viagem" in 2018.
In 2010, drummer Luís Rita left the band and was replaced by Hugo Oliveira. Their songs like "Fardo" and "Não Feche a Porta" continue to be part of their catalog.
