Bororó formed in Bahia, Brazil in the late 1980s, with founding members Tatau, Marcão, and Jussara. They played axé music, a style from their region. Their song 'Bororó' became their signature track, and they also recorded 'Da Cor do Pecado' and 'Nossas Brigas'.
They released several albums including their self-titled debut in 1990, followed by 'Deixa Falar' in 1992 and 'Nosso Samba' in 1994. In 2009 they put out 'Bororó 20 Anos' to mark two decades together.
In 1993, their song 'Bororó' faced accusations of promoting drug use through its lyrics. The band denied this, saying it was just about the joy of Bahian culture.
