BOYO formed in Los Angeles in 2016 around singer-songwriter Alex Hwang, guitarist Daniel Crawford, and drummer Joey Howard. Their early sound pulled from shoegaze and dream pop, and they started playing shows locally. In 2018, they put out their debut single 'See You When I Die,' which got some attention for its moody, emotional pull.
That song and others like 'Hit Or Miss' and 'Good As Gone' landed on their 2018 EP 'Disconnect.' The band faced some public trouble in 2019 when Hwang was arrested on drug charges, and he later rejoined after dealing with addiction. In 2021, there were workplace allegations from a former employee, which the band denied.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
