Their debut album 'Brain Destruction' came out in 1992, establishing their aggressive thrash metal sound with lyrics that leaned heavily into macabre themes.
The song 'Chico Picadinho' drew particular attention for its graphic depiction of a real-life cannibalistic killer, leading to public outrage and legal challenges. The band followed with albums like 'Cannibal Holocaust' in 1993 and 'Eat the Flesh of the Dead' in 1997, maintaining their provocative approach despite the controversies.
Igor Cavalera left in 1995 to form Sepultura with his brother Max, and Esteves departed later in the decade, though Fernandez remained as the consistent frontman through various lineup changes. They continued releasing material into the 2000s and 2010s, including 'Monstrosity' in 2005 and 'Apocalypse' in 2012.
