Brains Out was a German metal band active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group featured Kai Hansen on vocals and guitar, Peter "Peavy" Wagner on bass, Uwe Lulis on lead guitar, and Ingo Schwichtenberg on drums. They put out four albums between 1985 and 1990, starting with their self-titled debut and ending with 'Slaves to the Grind.'
Their sound was a mix of heavy metal and thrash, with some progressive touches. The track 'Kim Cesarion' became their best-known song, a lengthy piece with cryptic lyrics that seemed to reference a Roman emperor. The band's material often dealt with dark or philosophical themes, which sometimes got them into trouble with more conservative listeners.
Brains Out called it quits in 1992. The individual members went on to other projects, but the band's handful of records maintained a cult following in certain metal circles long after they were done.
