BrakesBrakesBrakes was an experimental indie rock trio from Brighton, England, formed in 2006 with Tom White on vocals and guitar, Ed Harcourt on drums and electronics, and Marc Beatty on bass. Their debut album, "The Beatific Visions," came out in 2007, offering a raw, dissonant sound with introspective lyrics. Songs like "Oh! Forever" and "Two Shocks" from their catalog reflect this early approach, built around unusual noises and extended instrumental passages that often challenged rock conventions.

Over the next decade, they released four more albums: "Tongues" in 2009, "Touchdown" in 2011, "Night Vision" in 2013, and "Rock Is Dead" in 2016. Each record continued their experimentation, weaving together post-punk, noise rock, and electronica without settling into a predictable pattern. Their live shows were known for a confrontational stage presence, which drew criticism from some but also built a loyal following among fans who appreciated the band's artistic risks.

The group disbanded in 2017 after about a decade of activity.
