Braxs

Braxs is a hip-hop trio whose 2017 single '3 Xans' brought them attention. The group includes Tyler Schultz, who writes most of the lyrics, Blaze Thompson on production, and Josh Harper handling the performance side. Their early work had a raw quality that connected with listeners, and songs like 'Invisível' and 'Mentiras' followed that same direct approach.

In 2018 they released an EP called Exit, which dealt with addiction and mental health themes. The next year they put out a track called 'Codeine' with Drake. By 2020 they'd released a full album titled Phoenix. Their music tends to stay in that space between personal confession and atmospheric production, without much polish.

There have been some rough patches along the way. Blaze Thompson had a drug possession arrest in 2018 that paused things briefly. Tyler Schultz has talked about dealing with anxiety and depression, and those struggles sometimes surface in the writing. The group's sound hasn't changed dramatically since those early tracks, it's still built around Schultz's plainspoken verses and Thompson's moody, minimal beats.
