Breno Ruiz

Breno Ruiz fronts the Brazilian band Caipira, which formed around 2010 with the aim of reviving traditional Brazilian country music, often called música sertaneja. The group's 2016 debut album 'Alma Sertaneja' included the song 'Caipira,' which became a signature track for them. Their music draws from the sounds of artists like Sérgio Reis and Almir Sater, with Ruiz handling vocals, guitar, and accordion.

Caipira's recordings include albums like 'Origens' from 2018 and 'Raízes' from 2020. Their songs often feature straightforward, heartfelt lyrics, as heard in tracks such as 'Marinheiro do Mar,' 'Estrela Branca,' and 'Flor Lilás.' They've also collaborated with other artists, like Renato Braz on 'Viola de Bem Querer.'

The band's lineup includes João Neto on electric guitar, Paulo César on bass, Marcus Vinícius on drums, and Fabrício on steel guitar. Their work focuses on the traditional sounds of the Brazilian countryside, avoiding much of the polished production common in contemporary sertanejo.
