BRÍDÍN is an Irish folk band from County Clare, formed in the early 2000s around vocalist Caitlín NicGabhann and multi-instrumentalist Daragh Lynch. They were later joined by guitarist Ronan O'Snodaigh and percussionist Gearóid MacDiarmada, with accordion player Colm Mac Con Iomaire coming aboard in 2012. The group built a following through touring and recordings that drew from traditional Irish music while exploring contemporary possibilities.
Their 2006 album 'An Cailín Rua' included the song 'Empty Room,' which became one of their best-known tracks. The band has released several other albums, including 'Mín' in 2008, 'The Navigator' in 2012, 'Uisce' in 2015, and 'Anam' in 2019. Another notable song is 'Eve (Autumn Acoustic),' which features Séamus Scanlan.
Caitlín NicGabhann's outspoken views on social justice sometimes put the band at odds with parts of the music industry, leading to disputes with labels and festivals. They maintained their artistic approach and used their platform to address social issues, which resonated with many of their listeners.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
