Briga de Pombo

Briga de Pombo formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 2000s with Berna Ceppas, Dado Villa-Lobos, Pedro Sá, and Rodrigo Santos. Their name came from watching two pigeons fight on the street, which gave them a sense of the raw energy they wanted in their music. They mixed rock, reggae, and Brazilian folk into something that felt both familiar and their own.

Their song 'Quando Pombo Deixa o Ninho' became something of an anthem, touching on themes of leaving and resilience that connected with listeners. They also released tracks like 'Quarentena' and 'Tempos de Ilusão' that explored everyday struggles and aspirations without grandstanding.

They put out albums including their self-titled debut, 'Pombo sem Asa', and 'Terra Firme', working along the way with artists like Seu Jorge and Marisa Monte. The music kept a grounded feel even as it reached more people, staying rooted in the rhythms and concerns of where they came from.
